First Floors Glasgow installation advice

First Floors Glasgow offers a full fitting service. Whether you are looking for fit only or supply and fit we offer the best prices in Glasgow. Here are the different installation types: Floating flooring installation is a very simple method of fitting a new floor in your home. It requires little DIY experience and it very quick and easy. The Uni Clic system is very popular with people who want to have a go at fitting flooring themselves, and it believed to be the best installation system for laminate or engineered wood flooring types. If you are having solid hardwood or engineered wood flooring fitted, there are some other click systems but most are installed using ‘Tongue and Groove’. This means that a type of glue is used to fasten the tongue and groove together. The reason that this type of floor fitting is called ‘floating’ is that there is no contact between your chosen floorboards and the subfloor. Due to the movement of solid hardwood, it’s not recommended that floating installation (apart from a couple of exceptions with from Junckers and Berthold) is used.Glue-Down Installation This means that an adhesive is used on the subfloor so that the flooring type is fitted directly to the subfloor. If you are using this installation method on top of concrete, then you will need to make sure there is a damp proof membrane to make sure that you don’t have any problems with damp rising up and harming your new floor. This is a very stable installation method, and if it’s done professionally you shouldn’t have any further problems with your floor. You won’t be able to use the floor for a while so that the adhesive can set, and it’s not advised to do this yourself. Nail-Down Installation This installation method is best for solid hardwood and engineered wood flooring and is recommended if you have a wooden subfloor. If you are fitting your new planks on top of a wooden floor it’s recommended that you lay the planks in the opposite direction of the boards below, this will avoid any warping and will make the floor much more stable. This can be a very time consuming method and not only will you need specialist tools but you will also need to the expertise to do this so it’s not advisable for the DIY novice. Fantastic service. David gave me great advice on which flooring would be most suitable for my business premises. Within the week Steven came to fit the flooring and, as promised, was in and out in a day. Can’t recommend this local Company enough. Anna Smylie ZuZu Giffnock.

We recently purchased engineered oak flooring and carpets from First Floors. The customer service from David and team was exceptional. We had just moved home from overseas and bought a house with no floors so we did not have access to allow First Floors to measure. Theye allowed us to use our own measurements as we wanted the floors laid ASAP once we had the keys. The floor is beautiful and laid very professionally (thanks Steven). The carpets are also lovely and exactly what I wanted. The only thing I would change about the experience would be to have First Floors assess the house in advance. We have fire doors which were a problem the day the carpets were laid. This was not the issue of First Floors and it was resolved quickly. Thanks again David, we would highly recommend First Floors to anyone.

Another Great Job Done!!
Just had our third floor project in seven years completed by First Floors once again.
Great service from David and his showroom team from assisting in the selection of materials through to arranging the installation. Chris and his team worked tidily and efficiently on the hardwood flooring with great attention to detail. Gordon who fitted the stair carpet was very professional in his work and was able to resolve some problematic details to our entire satisfaction.
Would definitely recommend First Floors.
