Solid wood flooring maintenance – what’s the advice?

The great thing about solid wood flooring maintenance is that there isn’t really any! We believe that solid wood flooring is the ideal floor finish for any home. It’s hardwearing, adds value to your home, lasts much longer than good quality carpet (and often costs less). Most homes are made out of soft wood and many traditional houses sand down their original pine floorboards. This is soft wood, yet people live with this flooring without any problems. However, we believe that it’s uneconomical as it’s very drafty and can make your home dusty due to the gaps. It also won’t give you the beautiful finish of a real wood. So, when you think about it – hardwood is the ideal floor finish. It will literally last for generations and is maintenance free. We just advise that you clean it properly, don’t drag heavy furniture and wear stilettos. But that’s it! If you want to refinish the oiled or lacquered finish, we offer a maintenance box with the cleaner, natural soap, oil or lacquer. You can do this every 5 years or whenever you feel it needs a boost.
