Engineered wood flooring maintenance – what’s the advice? If you have engineered wood flooring, or are considering having this type of flooring fitted, we believe that it’s pretty much maintenance free. That’s why we believe it’s the ideal flooring for any home. We ask that people take the usual precautions such as not dragging furniture, not wearing stilettos and that’s pretty much it! If you think about it, most houses used to be built using soft wood. Many people now have the original floorboards, sanded down and treated with a lacquer. This is also soft wood. Therefore, why would anyone doubt the suitability of hardwood flooring in their home! Engineered wood flooring can be sanded and re finished up to 3 to 5 times in its lifetime, depending on the measurement of the upper layer of the solid wood which is usually up to around 5mm. However, we believe that most people if they have engineered wood flooring would only do this once or twice in the space of say 20 years, and many people don’t generally stay in their house for that long. We provide a maintenance box for those who have either brushed and oiled, or lacquered wood floors. This includes the cleaner, natural soap, and oil and doesn’t even require you to sand the floors. It simply maintains the beauty of your floor. Engineered wood flooring really does add value to your home. Take a look at Zoopla – they have a home valuation page, where you can put in the address of any home and find out it’s current value. There are few questions about the interiors but one of them is ‘Does the property have real wood flooring.’
